The only two female chief executives of Australia’s 50 biggest companies aren’t just outnumbered by men but usually find themselves looking up at their male peers.
Kerrie Mather, who is chief executive of Sydney Airport, is 160 centimetres (just shy of 5 feet 3 inches) tall, while Westpac Banking Corporation CEO Gail Kelly is a handspan taller at 171.5cm.
The average man is 176cm tall, well short of the average male chief executive. A survey of the CEOs of the top 50 listed companies by the Weekend Financial Review found their average height is 183cm – over 6 feet – and about 7cm taller than the average man today.
